Guardian & Retired Dogs
From time to time, we have carefully selected dogs available either as Guardian Dogs or as retiring adults transitioning from our breeding program into much-loved family homes. Guardian dogs remain part of the Lovelocks breeding program while living full, enriched lives with their guardian families, and this pathway is suited to those who value partnership, transparency, and ongoing support. If you are interested in becoming a Guardian family, please take the time to read our Guardian Family Program page in full and submit an application via that page.
We also occasionally have retired dogs becoming available—these are older dogs who have completed their breeding journey and are ready for a quieter life as a devoted companion. For enquiries about retiring dogs.

Etta
Etta is a 7-month-old Australian Cobberdog with a beautifully balanced, thoughtful nature and a calm, observant way of moving through the world. She can be a little shy with strangers initially, but once she has time to settle and build trust, she becomes deeply engaged with her people—affectionate, responsive, and very connected. Etta has a highly trainable temperament and works well for praise and “good girl” feedback, while also being food-motivated, making her a pleasure to guide and teach. She thrives in environments where interactions are predictable and respectful, and would be best suited to a family who values calm manners, consistency, and gentle leadership. Etta will be available as a Guardian dog from January.

Maggie
Maggie is a 2-year-old Australian Cobberdog with a deeply affectionate, people-focused nature and a joyful love of life. She forms strong bonds with her family, offers beautiful eye contact, and is always ready for connection—whether that’s an enthusiastic game of ball or relaxing on the lounge for a well-earned belly rub. Maggie is house trained, travels well in the car, and settles easily into home routines. She is a large standard girl and, while gentle and good-natured, can be a little clumsy at times, so she would be best suited to a home without very young children. An active family—perhaps with teenagers who enjoy playing ball—would be an ideal match for her energy and playfulness. Maggie will be available as a Guardian dog from February, following the weaning of her current and first litter.
